5. Christian Education

SIM Niger is convinced that transformation in the Church and Nigerien society involves the education of children. It is during childhood that worldview and character are formed. These things can change in adults but much slower and often in a limited way. We believe that leadership training is best accomplished when it begins at home and is then reinforced at school.

SIM Niger believes that it is well placed to invest in the training of the teachers. Trained, committed teachers are the key to Christian Education that transforms the whole person. The department of education is currently offering low-cost teaching training to kindergarten and lower elementary teachers. This training is based on a mentorship model that involves academic and “hands-on” coaching in actual classrooms.
